The Governor is the chief administrator of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. One of the activities used to accomplish this function is advising the state on needed educational actions. This series consists of the files of the governor's educational advisor. It contains letters, legislative bills, minutes of public hearings, and reports of commissions, task forces, and other bodies. Subjects include education at all levels, from kindergarten to higher education, and the improvement of same, teacher certification, and the rate of illiteracy in the state and how to improve literacy, Ed Richardson, the Alabama Education Improvement Act of 1991, the Alabama Education Study Commission, Alabama A & M University, Alabama Literacy Coalition, Ozeil Brehon, Citizen's Task Force for Better Education, Dothan City Schools, and Troy State University.
